Abandoned Hospital – Part 1

St.Jósefspitali hospital in Iceland was recently closed. I had the chance yesterday to take some shots there. Here’s the history of the hospital in Icelandic and English – All images shot on Canon 5d MKII and EF 24mm TS-E MKII.

Olympus 35 RC – My favorite compact camera

Olympus 35 RC rangefinder camera Mamiya

Olympus 35RC Rangefinder Camera – Shot on Mamiya RZ ProII 67 with 65mm lens (Fuji Provia 400)

Olympus 35 RC is a great little camera I bought for few dollars on a flea market few years back

it’s one of the smallest 35 mm rangefinder with all manual settings plus automatic aperture settings. Cameraquest.com writes:

“The RC is packed with so many features,  it  reads like a photographer’s wish list, easily winning the “Most features in the Smallest Size” for this camera class”

and it truly is packed with feature: small, great lens, leaf shutter lens sync at all speed, shutterspeed and aperture visible in viewfinder, AE exposure lock, bright viewfinder, great with flash, off switch, battery test, pc connection, quiet shutter, self timer.

and, you get 40 frames on 36 exposure roll!!!

one downside: It use outdated Mercury 625 batteries but can easily be modified for modern 1.5V

now I’m just starting to wish Olympus will redesign this little beauty with digital sensor. the new pen is to plastic and has no optical viewfinder like Leica M9 and Fuji X-100

A great little digital Holga (Yashica)

This is great, I love Holga. But I hate the scanning, driving down to the photo-lab to process and again to pick up.

The Yashica EZ F521 5mp digital camera has it all, even video. And with modification instruction from Peter Lueck you get the perfect Holga

and cost only around 100$. Check out Ebay

ohhhh, and it also works as a webcam;)

Canon EF 17-40 f4 lens transformed to a Tilt lens

I accidently transformed my 17-40 f4 to a tilt lens (no shift available though), the first zoom lens being able to tilt as I know

but it got boring after few shots, little bit like Lomo. It’s really exciting but after few shots it’s not anymore

Hasselblad start shipping red and stainless-steel version of H4d-40

Hasselblad is shipping their limited edition of H4d-4 red and H4d-4 stainless steel. Limited to 500 pieces with pricetag of 21.499 $ for the red one and 13.990 Euros for the Stainless steel

I like it, bravo Hasselblad. It will help some photographers with their branding. Lets say you have a red logo, you could buy the red hasselblad, red Lacoste polo shirt, spray paint your Profoto red and live happily ever after.

Hopefully this will be a success for them, at least Hasselblad have always had their special editions. Question when the crocodile leather will be availeble

Hasselblad H2 “Rebel”

My Hasselblad H2 got a rather unusual modification last week. In the four years I have owned my H2, my shutter button have stopped working twice. The first  time I sent it to Sweden for 2 weeks for repair, but I couldn’t miss my camera now so I had a local guy to replace it with Canon 450d shutter button (Rebel XSi model). Now I just have to see if the Japanese parts are any better than the Swedish ones.

I have heard this is quite common failure on the H1 and H2, wonder if Hasselblad have fixed this in the newer models
